I have been a watercolourist for many years and now wish to try your acrylic paints. I use your palette and methods to mix my successfully, will I need further information in order to mix my acrylics?
Not at all. I have deliberately used the same 12 pigments in our watercolours, oils, acrylics and gouache in order to ensure continuity. You can move from one media to another freely. You will, for example, obtain the same type of mid green from a mix of green-yellow and violet-blue in any of our media.
There will be certain slight differences due to the binder. Acrylic binder (the 'glue' which holds it all together) tends to dry slightly darker than the gum used in watercolours You will very soon get used to this light darkening.
As for the palette, the watercolours palette is ideal for thinly applied acrylics, if you work with heavily applied paint the oils version will be more suitable.
