I heard about the School of Colour through a friend, but have not seen any coverage in the art magazines. Why is this?
Although we continue to work towards removing the quite unnecessary barriers to full creativity, prior to our opening this web site it was very difficult to get the message across. Most of the art magazines on either side of the Atlantic refuse to describe our work for fear of upsetting their main advertisers, the manufacturers of artists paints. The latter would rather not have artists working with a handful of light fast colours and the knowledge of how to mix and use them and which paints to choose or to avoid. The way that artists will work in the future is feared by such suppliers. But change will come.
Major art magazines have asked me to write articles on colour on the proviso that I do not mention our colours or the School of Colour; my name must also be kept out of the article! When I point out that certain other manufacturers have their names plastered over most of the articles they rapidly lose interest. They are quick however, to ask others to plagiarize my work.
Thanks to the Internet we are at last able to talk directly to those who might be interested in our work.
