I have a quite a few tubes of paint from various manufacturers. I want to move over to your colours later but can I use my present colours with your methods?
The very last thing that I would ever suggest is that our colours have to be used in order to achieve full control over colour mixing. Our main 'product' is information, not paints. All of our colours can be matched in other makes if you shop around carefully.
To give a little background, I decided to formulate our own paints because artists constantly asked which make of paint they should use with my approach to colour mixing. I found that I could not recommend one make or the other. At the time a light fast violet-red was almost impossible to obtain, too many colours contained an excess of filler and colours such as Cerulean Blue were often imitated using cheaper pigments. In addition, the pigments varied depending on the media. One range of pigments being used for watercolours, another for oil paints and so on. This is still the case.
In my book "The Artist's Guide to Selecting Colours" I have tried to give the guidance which will enable you to select alternative colours should you wish to do so. I would suggest that you ensure that the colours you select are light fast and do not contain an excess of filler.
